Tidal Twister – Dueling Coaster Coming to SeaWorld San Diego in 2019October 11, 2018
After what was a huge 2018 for SeaWorld San Diego with Electric Eel, the park is not done yet adding new attractions. Tidal Twister is coming to the park in 2019, and will be a first-of-its-kind dueling coaster.
The ride will have two stations that are loaded and launched simultaneously. The two trains will race past each other at the center of a figure-8-shaped track. At each crossing, one train will be flipped upside down in a zero-G roll, and the other will fly over an air-time hill at up to 30 miles per hour.
Tidal Twister is designed as a family-friendly ride, with a height requirement of 48 inches. The ride will also feature seats facing both forwards and backwards, which will encourage riders to experience Tidal Twister multiple times in different seats.
In true SeaWorld style, there will also be an opportunity for making animal connections while experiencing Tidal Twister. The new roller coaster will be located adjacent to an aquarium with touch pools that allow guests to get up-close and personal with marine tidal creatures.
Signage in the area will also highlight SeaWord’s founding and ongoing role in the Rising Tide Conservation program. The purpose of this program is to discover and develop breeding strategies for marine ornamental fish so that the fish are no longer harvested from the wild.
